Happy Friday - Lilac & Lavender

I'm being pulled to these colours this week.

I love them when they are warmed up with golds and gilts, or when adding interest and serenity to whites.

Lilac and lavender are restful and feminine and very romantic... the perfect colours for snoozing...

What's your favourite feminine combo?

Take Two Tuesday - Flamingo Cushions

Everyone's loving a bit of flamingo right now and I've come across some pretty options for flamingo cushion. Great add some instant interest to your cushion collection...

This linen pillow is from Graham and Green and is yours for £80... pretty colours...

But my bargain alternative is from Debenhams - I love the hot coral border and the embroidery feather detail. It's a steal at £20!

What do you think? Who wins this flaming flamingo head to head? x

Happy Friday!

I have had good news today, my eldest has got in to our preferred Junior school. So happy. Not only is it a great school but it is also walking distance from our home which is something he's always wanted! (Although I see him not being so enthusiastic in the winter and rain!)

So my cheer is transcending into current favourite interiors that also make me happy.

I can't stop thinking about Amber's Gorgeous Living Room from Amber Interiors...

It's that rug that's really killing me and, of course, the pink and lilac combo! Love love love it.

But there are other random spaces making me happy today...

Take Two - Library Wallpaper

I had a friend email me recently asking about library wallpaper.

via

She'd seen Andrew Martin's Library wallpaper and loved the quirky look for her new home but at £120 a roll it was way out of her price range.

I love the way it can add immediate character and mood to a space

Luckily I have seen a few similar styles on my travels at much more affordable rates and this one is the Grand Bargain...

This is Decorpassion 'Bookshelf' and retails at £12.99 a roll! It's available from Lancaster Wallpaper and Paint. She is now indeed a Happy Camper. What do you think about this type of wallpaper? I think it's great for a Man Cave! X

Monday at Mine

We have a large family room area off of our kitchen and it's big, cream walls were getting to me. It's one of my favourite parts of the house but it needs cosy-ing up. It's a large area with an apex roof at the end so really needs either oversize pieces or focal points or they look lost.

Although we are allowed to paint some parts of the house, this area is pretty open plan so we'd have to paint or wallpaper pretty much the whole downstairs if I really wanted to tackle That Cream.

So I decided: Offending walls = Gallery Walls

One side would be our collection of family photographs that we'd already organised and framed for our previous home.

The other side would be a hodge podge of favourite prints, kids prize artwork and special memories in a mixture of frames. I love the way we can mix up great grandad's papers with our wedding day and joe's 'spring' canvas.

It's not finished by a long shot but this is the way we look today...

Beginnings of our gallery wall...

Beginnings of our photo wall...
We have a navy sofa and white gloss dining table. This week I'm going to be working on making it all cohesive so check back next week to see how far I have or haven't got!

Here are some other bits around the room for the time being...

Bluebellgray

Bluebellgray is an exciting, UK based Scottish textile design company specialising in the home interiors market set up by designer Fi Douglas in 2009. Influenced by a love of colour and all things floral, the designs are something unique and special, each design is painted by hand in the Bluebellgray studio before being printing onto natural cottons and linens using state of the art printing technology.

I've seen their cushions cropping up in UK interiors magazines in the last few months and what I love is that each print is like a piece of beautiful watercolour art in itself and so takes art from the walls to any part of the room. The colours are to die for...

They also do stunning wall panels...

And have a blog which goes behind the scenes on their creative journey...

Talented huh? x

Outside In

Whether it's a little fern or a massive fiddle fig tree, I can't fail to notice how just one piece of greenery completely and utterly transforms a room.

It adds a harmony and balance...

Cuts through neutrals....

Gives a tropical flavour...

Adds an organic element to the most thought out space...

Creates drama...

Makes a focal point...

Adds texture...

Breathes life into the most urban apartment...

Balances colours...

Softens...

Gives good height...

Tones down glamour...

Adds a pop of colour without lifting a paint brush...

Definately a classic design investment worth making! All I need are green fingers to keep them alive!
